Crafted with Sustainably Harvested American Black Walnut and made in our factory in Ohio, Gerstner's large 18″ x 12″, edge grain butcher block is a sturdy 1.6″ thick for serious work, feature a juice groove, and finger grooves for easy lifting.

Edge Grain butcher blocks are designed for heavier cutting and chopping, while minimizing knife marks in the wood, and keeping your knife sharper than using plastic, bamboo or glass cutting boards.  The large size makes it ideal for meat, fish and poultry and the juice groove keeps juices from spilling onto countertops or tables.  The butcher block comes with food-grade mineral oil and wax to prepare your board for use.

Due to the natural variations in walnut wood, the edge grain butcher blocks will vary from what is shown in these images. Some butcher blocks will be more consistent in color, while others will have high contrast between lighter and darker wood.
