GE Aerospace® asked Gerstner & Sons to build a Micrometer Standard Holder for their Starrett - 234A Series - Micrometer Standards to hold the Standards in an orderly fashion and be able to calibrate their micrometers, without having to remove the Standards from the Holder.

GE Aerospace also mentioned that Starrett sells some wood cases that holds the Micrometer Standards, but they were concerned about their employees dropping the rods while calibrating their micrometers, so they wanted something rigid to hold the rods in place for calibration, but portable to take to different departments.
